About Summit AP
Summit AP was developed to give young people a practical, supportive and structured alternative provision where education, confidence, wellbeing and future pathways are brought together.
We understand that young people often arrive at alternative provision with complex experiences, interrupted learning, low confidence or reduced trust in education. Our role is to meet them where they are, identify what is getting in the way, and help them take realistic steps towards achievement.
Safeguarding built into everything we do.
Safeguarding is not a separate part of Summit AP. It shapes our culture, daily routines, staff practice, referral decisions, risk assessments and the way we communicate with schools, families and professionals.
Our safeguarding commitment
Safer recruitment principles, appropriate staff checks, DBS checks with quarterly DBS Update Service monitoring where applicable, clear policies, prompt communication with the placing school and DSL, and careful incident recording.

We also commit to ongoing policy review and reflective practice, so our provision continues to develop in line with current guidance and the needs of the young people in our care.
A holistic team behind every placement.
Our team brings experience across social care, children’s services, safeguarding, education support, youth work, health, fitness, nutrition and practical skills development. This gives Summit AP a holistic understanding of the young person, not just their behaviour or academic starting point.
Five values that shape daily practice.
Safety
Belonging
Consistency
Achievement
Future readiness
Learning that feels relevant and achievable.
Young people are supported with functional maths and English alongside practical learning, so that education feels relevant, manageable and connected to real life. Progress is measured in small, meaningful steps — building the habits, confidence and skills needed for the next stage.
Trained, Checked and Prepared Staff
At Summit AP, staff training is central to safe and effective practice. Young people accessing alternative provision often need adults who understand behaviour, trauma, safeguarding, attendance, learning barriers and emotional regulation.
All Summit AP staff are enhanced DBS checked and have safeguarding and first aid training. Staff also receive training relevant to their role, including trauma informed practice, restorative conversations, de escalation, anti bullying, assessment, internet safety and attendance.
This means our team is better prepared to support young people calmly, consistently and professionally.
